We’re in the process of a redesign for the blog (can’t WAIT to show you), and while we were playing with colors and patterns I got all inspired to put some of what we were working with onto something physical, instead of it just living in the computer. I had a big blank table runner and a dining room that needed a splash of color, so I think you can see where this is heading. I love this project because it packs a lot of color and is kind of so simple you can’t go wrong. So pick your favorite colors and let’s get to it!
Materials
Make Time: 1 Hour (Plus Drying Time)
Step 2: Choose your colors. We chose three colors for the large painted pieces (yellow, aqua, dark pink) and two for the accents (light pink, navy).
Step 3: Use your main colors to paint some abstract splotches on the length of the runner. Use one main color to paint the largest splotches. Use a secondary color to paint a few smaller ones, and a tertiary color to sprinkle in here and there.
Step 4: Once dry, use your two accent colors to paint some strips of smaller, abstract dots. We layered the light pink over the dark pink, and put the navy in at random.
Step 5: Let dry and place it on your table.
I also love that this is a sneaky little preview of what the new blog design has in store! You’ll probably notice some familiar themes once we relaunch, which should be soon. And in the meantime, my dining room table is a lot more cheerful with all of this color splashed around on it! xoxo
