This is actually a revamp of a project I did years ago, and it popped into my mind recently! I wanted a vase that had a pop of color on it, and all I have around the house is white ceramic vases. So I thought a bold, springy paint color might be good for jazzing this white one up a bit. I love this project because it’s so simple anyone can do it, and it takes just a couple of minutes. A perfect project for a newbie DIY-er, or someone who’s just scared of the DIY idea in general. Let’s do it!
Materials
- white or clear cylindrical vase (we found ours at Michaels)
- tin foil
- disposable bowl or container for dipping
- optional: razor blade
Make Time: 5 Minutes (Plus Dry Time)
Step 1: Fill your bowl or container with about 1″ of paint. (Be sure that the container is wide enough for the mouth of your vase to dip down into the paint.) Prep a piece of foil and set it on a flat surface.
Step 2: Flip your vase upside down and dip into the paint. Lower it into the paint slowly and completely vertically so that all sides get covered evenly. Lift out carefully.
Step 3: Flip the vase right side up and place it on the foil to try. Let the paint drip down however it likes! It’ll take a day or two to dry and completely cure. If you like, you can use a razor blade to scrape off any stray paint from areas that you’d like to be clean.
That’s it! I think the pop of color is such a fun addition to a floral arrangement. And speaking of flowers, these beauties are from Flower Muse!
