Not all of our bedroom DIY's made it onto the TODAY Show but our loss is your gain. Have a look at this bonus project ripe for the making... Rope covered lamps are all over the place right now, as we spotted more than a handful quite pricey versions at some of our favorite retailers. But, this is SUCH a doable, simple project that you can do in an hours time with some rope scored from your hardware store, some hot glue and an inexpensive lamp that you probably have in storage!
Table lamp, preferably with a tall cylinder base (we found ours at Target)
25' of 5/8" diameter rope
Hot glue gun
Hot glue sticks
Scissors or gardening shears/clippers
cost and time: $50 per lamp (plus some tools from around the house- hot glue gun, scissors)
1hr per lamp
Glue one end of the rope to the bottom of the base of the lamp.
Wrap the rope around the around the base, gluing to the lamp and to itself as you go.
Trim the rope when you reach the top. Tuck the rope ends into the wrapping and glue in place.
