Paper plant tablescape

Tropical plants have been quite the rage in party and home decor. I’ve seen them sprinkled in balloon arches and as patterns on cushions for sofas. Then when these gorgeous tropical foliage melamine plates came out from Terrain I knew I had to try out the trend. They were too beautiful to pass up. Plus, I’ve been wanting to do a monthly tabletop series; a tabletop of the month if you will because I love all things tabletop so I thought this Paper Plant Tablescape would be a great place to start. And the great news is that we are offering all the shapes as free patterns to download!

I was also inspired by a scene from Solange’s Instastories a number of weeks ago at a party she attended. Or something. One can never tell what type or rad events Solange attends or creates.

I loved the feel having a grouping of tons of tropical plants together in the middle of the room so we decided to do it with paper. We used some antique bottles that I found at the local vintage market for $1 a piece to act as our vases. We combined it with some other gorgeous dinnerware options we found, all listed below, for a gorgeous table setting. I think it would be pretty for a variety of occasions like a bridal shower, birthday, tea party, dinner party.

Paper Plant Tablescape

Instructions:

1. Trace and cut out leaves on shades of green cardstock. An Exacto knife is helpful for the leaves with holes in them.
2. Score the leaves down the center to give them some shape
3. Glue lengths of floral wire down the middle of the leaves, covering the whole back so you can bend and manipulate the leaves.
4. Place in vases and voila!
