I’m all about easily accessible candy as much as the next gal, but I think we can get a little more creative than a plain old apothecary jar, don’t you? These DIY footed candy jars are really inexpensive to make (I used basic glass hurricane vases!) and they’re a much-more-modern take on the standard dessert table.
Customize your candy jars with bold stripes, geometric patterns, or just let the sweets do all of the showing off…
Supplies:
• Flat bottomed, round wooden legs (you can buy them in the wood section of craft stores)
• Plain glass hurricanes
• E-6000 (or another glass-friendly glue of your choice)
• Spray paint
• Painter’s tape
• Plain paper
Steps:
1. Dab a bit of glue onto the flat side of the wooden legs and let it set for a second to become tacky.
2. Firmly press the wooden legs on the bottom of the hurricanes; use three wooden legs to form a triangle.
3. Tape off a bottom section of the hurricane with painter’s tape.
4. Tape off a piece of paper along your original line to keep spray paint from getting on the rest of the hurricane. Then, spray paint the exposed end of the hurricane and bottom and let dry completely.
After the paint is dry, peel the tape away and fill with goodies! Adding a little glam with golden tongs never hurts either.
